Cocoa Republic produces some of the world’s finest chocolate and we are looking for new team members to help us launch our exciting brand in the Los Angeles area.

Company Profile

Cocoa Republic was founded in 2016 on the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago, which we loving refer to as the “Cocoa Capital of the World.” Trinidad is home to the Trinitario variety of cocoa and is the native home to nearly two-thirds of all cocoa varieties known in the world. We handpick the best genetic variety for our bars and hand craft 100% of our chocolate in Trinidad & Tobago.

Cocoa Republic is sold in more than 200 different locations in the Caribbean and is launching in the US market. In 2017, after one year in business, we won our first award from the International Cocoa Association(?) for the unique flavor and texture of our Malted Milk Chocolate with Toffee Bits.

Position Description & Reponsibilities

We are seeking a Business Development Intern to assist with our new operations in Los Angeles. We have just launched operations in the US and are seeking candidates that are motivated to help build an amazing company. Ideal candidates have an entrepreneurial, go getter spirit that go above and beyond to help their team succeed.

As a Business Development Intern, you’ll get the opportunity to witness a start-up enter the US market. You’ll gain first hand experience into the challenges and strategies for success when launching a new business and entering the international market. The Business Development Intern’s tasks include a variety of responsibilities, that will benefit candidates interested in entrepreneurship or the speciality food industry. Because Cocoa Republic is a start-up, we are building a blueprint to success and market penetration in America, and learning as we grow. There are a lot of unknowns that we will encounter, and our interns should be flexible in their abilities to help us overcome them. The ideal candidate should possess the following abilities:

  • Commit 20 hours a week to Cocoa Republic related tasks (we make exceptions for finals)
  • Have transportation available
  • Strong desire to participate in a start-up environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly & effectively
  • Self-motivated & responsible
  • Disciplined and self-managed with limited or remote supervision
